About

ARTCARDIFF is an inclusive place for sharing – we gather info about the Visual Arts in Cardiff – venues, listings and a directory – and put it all in one handy place. It is free to list and free to access. If you have an event or venue that you think should be there, or if your favourite space isn’t there – tell us that it should be!

Currently it is being co-produced by artist run spaces g39 and Arcade-Campfa, with Clare Charles and George Manson and Anthony Shapland. Joshua Jones is currently producing and managing Social Media. ARTCARDIFF is run by artists on a mostly voluntary basis. It has occasionally been supported by Cardiff Council, by advertisers and is currently supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

The current look of ARTCARDIFF – the mix of typefaces, black and red ink on pink paper – was developed by Jon Morris, HEIGHT & Shapland and is now printed by Biscuits Press.

ARTCARDIFF started life in 2007 in conversations between artists Jennie Savage, Anthony Shapland, Richard Higlett, Chris Brown and Grace Davies. Soon it involved Nic Finch and Chris Evans who developed the first website. It has also included Debbie Savage, Richard Bevan, Sean Edwards, Kathryn Ashill, Jo Berry and Liam O’Connor. The first printed maps 2011-15 were supported by Holly Davey, Walt Warrilow, Nia Metcalfe, Sam Hasler, Mark Gubb and Cinzia Mutigli.

ARTCARDIFF does exactly what it says. Early on it was once simply known as ARC but nearly got called many, many different things; Cardiff Artists Network, Sightseer, Urban Foxes, Checkpoint and for some reason, Owl-Precinct.
